EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Part-time Grants Manager – 2 days per week / total of 16 hours per week

Position Purpose:

The Grants Manager reports to the Development Director and focuses on developing and implementing grant writing strategies that support the short and long term fundraising goals of Kirkland Performance Center.

The Grants Manager manages the grants process from start to finish with current and prospective grant makers. This management process includes but is not limited to researching prospective funders; collecting, managing and synthesizing grant related information; writing inquiries, proposals and reports; and maintaining all records to ensure that the grants fundraising and stewardship is properly tracked and acknowledged.

General Responsibilities:

1. Research

  • Identifies new prospects by researching potential foundation and corporate grant makers and monitors various sources to identity potential grant opportunities.
  • Oversees a portfolio of prospective grant makers.
  • Explore and recommends funding opportunities to pursue from pool of prospective grant makers.

2. Systems & Administration

  • Write all government, foundation and corporate grants in collaboration with other staff or independently when appropriate.
  • Coordinates and prioritizes work assignments to support the grants work plan.
  • Maintain the grants calendar – develop and implement a system to carry out, organize, and monitor grants fundraising efforts.
  • Oversees the processing of all incoming grants, paperwork and scheduling of all appropriate corresponding actions in database.
  • Prepares all outgoing letters, proposals, reports and other grant documents.
  • Ensures that all data on funders is up to date in hard files and electronic files in database.

3. Other Funding Projects

  • Assist with selected fundraising activities to achieve department and organizational goals, which include but are not limited to, donor recognition, database generated reports and mailings, cultivation events, corporate and foundation partner/sponsor projects and events.
  • Produce other written collateral to support broader development goals as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

1. Qualifications

  • Prefer 1-3 years development experience, specifically grant writing
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentational skills
  • Knowledge of Puget Sound region corporate and foundation communities
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in the arts community
  • Ability to work independently and well with other staff in a collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and familiarity with donor database software systems

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Kirkland Performance Center has on-going opportunities for internships to aid in professional/career development in non-profit/theatre organizations. 

General Guidelines for KPC Internships:

  • Time commitment for an internship is minimum of 10 hours per week and maximum of 30 hours per week. Office hours are M - F 9 am to 5 pm.
  • Duration of an internship is 3 months to 9 months.
  • Interns will have a designated supervisor, and will be expected to communicate schedule, etc. to that supervisor.
  • Interns will be expected to create a paper trail / electronic records of their work, so that the work may be continued following their departure.
  • Should someone wish to discontinue an internship, a minimum of one week notice is expected.
  • All interns will be expected to assist with general daily administrative duties including answering office phones, assisting office visitors, etc.

Artistic Intern

 
Kirkland Performance Center, a non-profit arts presenter in Kirkland, WA, seeks an unpaid artistic intern to assist the Executive Director with program planning. Minimum of 5 hours per week, maximum of 10. Our venue's annual schedule is 80% music and 20% multidisciplinary work. We touch on many genres of music, especially jazz, folk, world-crossover, swing and singer-songwriter. The Artistic Intern must have a broad interest in KPC’s diverse programming threads.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
• Passion for live music and other forms of live performance
• Experience with Microsoft Excel
• Strong collaborative skills and ability to work independently
• Strong communication skills, especially email and phone
• You really, really love to organize information about artists. Mostly in spreadsheets. A lot.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
• Radio (including college radio) or other music-industry experience, professional or volunteer
 
Responsibilities:
 
The artistic intern will work with the Executive Director and Education Director to support the program planning process. This is a highly collaborative position that will require frequent communication with both internal and external stakeholders, including artists, agents and volunteers.
 
• Categorizing music samples according to industry-standard genre classifications
• Communicating with artists, agents, and other local venues
• Maintaining calendars and spreadsheets to track key data points on future KPC programs
• Organizing CDs, DVDs, and printed materials
• Attending live performances, especially at Kirkland Performance Center
• Other duties as needed
