Our Board:
President Former Executive Director, Hopelink Doreen Marchione was the President and CEO of Hopelink from1992 through 2006. She is known as being a risk-taker and visionary leader with expertise in expanding programs, leading organizations through transitions, and in managing complex entities. Doreen currently is the chair-elect of the Board of the Kirkland Performance Center. She is a member f the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board and is also on the Steering Committee of the Sound Families Initiative of the Gates Foundation. She has served on the boards of United Way of King County, Leadership Eastside, and Executive Alliance. Prior to joining Hopelink, Doreen served from 1984-1991 as the mayor of Redmond. She is a graduate of Seattle University, where she serves on the Leadership Council for the College of Arts and Sciences. Susan F. Raunig Past President Community Leader Susan Raunig moved to Seattle from Montana shortly after college graduation and has acquired 20 years of business management experience with an emphasis in Human Resources, Business Operations and Office Administration. After a 15-year tenure at Microsoft Corporation, she devotes her time to community service as a volunteer and board member and is a member of the Washington Women’s Foundation. She is passionate about and is an advocate for organizations supporting the development of young girls, breast cancer research and the arts. She recently completed a 4-year board term at Powerful Voices, a Seattle-based organization with a vision for all girls to grow into strong women. Susan has a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership from City University and a BS in Business Management with a minor in Marketing from Montana State University. Outside interests include golf, travel, food, wine and the performing arts. She lives in Kirkland with her husband and her dogs. Cindy ZechPresident Elect Physical Therapist Mike King Vice President Senior Finance Manager, Boeing Commercial Airplanes As senior finance manager on the 787 Program, Mike King is responsible for developing and implementing the program’s product development intergrated cost management system. Mike joined Boieng in 1991 and has undertaken assignments in Manufacturing, Supplier Management, Value Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Finance. Mike was a member of the inaugural class of Leadership Eastside, and has also been involved with United Way of King County. He received his Bachelors degrees in Finance and Marketing from Eastern Washington University, and his Masters in Technology Management from the University of Washington in 2005. He enjoys playing basketball, tennis, golf and running. Mike and his wife Joy and sons Tyler and Alex have recently built a home in Newcastle. Jeff Bander Treasurer Senior Financial Consultant, Wells Fargo Investments, LLC Jeff Bander is a Senior Financial Consultant for the Bellevue office of Wells Fargo Investments, LLC. Before joining Wells Fargo, Jeff was Senior Vice President and Branch Manager at Everen Securities in Bellevue. Prior to that Jeff was with Dean Witter as Vice President and Branch Manger of their Portland West office. He has been in the brokerage industry for more than 20 years.Jeff earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Washington University and an MBA from City University. Jeff and his wife Mary live in Kirkland and have two children attending college. He is currently on the Board of Trustees of Evergreen Healthcare Foundation and has served on numerous other non-profit boards. Jeff, an avid golfer, is a member of Bear Creek Country Club. Lauret BallsunSecretary Lauret Ballsun moved from California to the West of Market Kirkland area three years ago and joined ICOS Corporation as the Senior Director of the Global Product Safety (GPS) Department. Lauret has 20 years of pharmaceutical industry experience and is responsible for managing safety data from ICOS’s medicinal products in development and commercial use. Her duties include overseeing the assessment and communication of product risks to maintain public health and patient safety, assuring corporate compliance with regulatory statues and guidelines, managing budget, operational infrastructure and metrics, and maintaining alignment of business strategies with vendor and corporate partners. Lauret previously worked at Syntex Corporation, Genetech, and Elan Pharmaceticals; Lauret graduated from the University of California at Berkeley, majoring in psychology, and from San Diego State University, majoring in nursing. Lauret has three daughters, two of them recent graduates from the University at California and now working in Berkeley prior to pursuing their graduate education. Lauret’s youngest daughter is now in 9th grade and spends most of her time dancing when she is not in school. Lauret became an avid enthusiast for the performing arts by her exposure to many artists associated with the work of her brother-in-law, Robert Friedman, who is an impresario in the world of dance, music, and drama. Lauret is looking forward to being an active and devoted supporter of the performing arts through her KPC board membership.
Steve Brown, FACHE Officer-at-Large CEO, Evergreen Healthcare Steve Brown, is the Chief Executive Officer of Evergreen Healthcare, in Kirkland, Washington, and is responsible for oversight and direction of all aspects of Evergreen’s operations. Prior to Evergreen, Steve served as a system Vice President with the Inova Health System, in Falls Church, Virginia and Chief Executive Officer of an 800+ bed campus which included Inova Fairfax Hospital and the Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children.
In addition to his duties and responsibilities with Evergreen Healthcare, Steve is also very active in the community. He currently serves as President of the Rotary Club of Kirkland, and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Eastside Business Roundtable. He also serves on the Board of Directors of several business and community organizations, including the Kirkland Performance Center, Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Kirkland Chamber of Commerce, Cascadia Community College Foundation, Kirkland Business Roundtable and Leadership Eastside, which he chairs.
Steve graduated from Thiel College with a BA, and from The Pennsylvania State University with a Master of Public Administration in Health Care Services. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. Steve and his wife Mary live in Woodinville and have 2 sons, Zach, who lives in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and Adam, who lives in Kirkland. Mary and Steve both love to travel and enjoy being near the water and anything outdoors. Dwight OlsonOfficer-at-Large President, Olson Investment Advisors, LLC Dwight is the Owner and CEO of Olson Investment Advisors, LLC. He has been conducting Retirement Seminars at The Boeing Co. for the past 15 years; he has contributed columns to the Seattle business journal and the Daily Journal of Commerce; been featured for several years on KIRO radio program on financial and investment planning; appeared several times on PBS KCTS Serious Money; a featured speaker to the clients of CPAs and law firms; he has been a guest speaker at the American College of Trial Lawyers; and completed Seattle University Executive Learning Honors program. He has been an active member of Kirkland Rotary for 26 years, Christian Executive Officers for 10 years, Pinnacle Forum Chairman Seattle Chapter, and Westminster Chapel member for 33 years.
Pascal Stolz Officer-at-Large CEO, alerts.com Pascal Stolz, a West of Market resident of Kirkland for over 7 years, most recently directed Microsoft’s Government Industry strategy as its World Wide Managing Director. Truly passionate about Kirkland and its activities, Pascal joined the Kirkland Performance Center board with the desire to help continue promoting extraordinary opportunity for artists to share their art. Originally from France, Pascal moved to the United States in 1988, graduated with a MBA from San Diego State University, and has had a very diverse career in executive marketing and strategy management that took him through executive position in the golf industry (Taylor made Golf Company and Cobra Golf), the dot-com, wireless, import/export and software. Pascal also serves on the board of Citizens for a Vibrant Kirkland (www.civik.org) and on the advisory board of several local companies.
Partner, Livengood, Fitzgerald & Alskog David Alskog was born in Tacoma and graduated from the University of Washington (B.A) and the University of San Francisco (J.D.). He is a partner in the law firm of Livengood, Fitzgerald & Alskog practicing business law, litigation, real estate law and construction and design law. He is a member of the King County, Washington State and American Bar Associations. Lani BrockmanArtistic Director/Founder, Studio East Lani Brockman is the Founding Artistic Director of Studio East, Training for the Performing Arts, a fifteen year-old theatre school in Kirkland, Washington. She has her degree in Children's Theater from the University of Washington and her professional acting certificate from Circle in the Square Theatre in NY. In addition to running the artistic side of Studio East, Lani also writes musicals for young audiences with her writing partner Susan Bardsley. Their musicals have been seen nationally as well as internationally and are performed for thousands of youngsters and their families here at the Kirkland Performance Center. Lani directs five productions annually, teaches theatre classes and spends time with her 13 year-old son, Zachary, her greatest achievement.
David Feller Corporate Vice President, Branch Manager, and Financial Consultant A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc., a division of Wachovia Securities, LLC David brings experience in finance, risk management, and personnel management together with an entrepreneurial spirit. He serves on the Yarrow Point Planning Commission, serves as the Chair of the KPC Investment Committee, and actively coaches girls soccer. He initially became involved with KPC while developing the first donor database for KPC in 1995. He believes the arts play a vital role in the development of the youth in our community as well as the community as a whole. He wants to ensure that KPC can continue to have a meaningful impact within the community for future generations. G.G. GetzBroker, Windermere Real Estate Born in Iowa and a proud graduate of Iowa State University, G.G. Getz has had a broad and varied career. She began her professional life as a 4-6rh grade teacher and then became a non-profit leader working with organizations in a variety of capacities including Director of Volunteer Services for March of Dimes, Exec Director of Wa St United Cerebral Palsy, 1st Exec Director of “Make-A-Wish”of WA, and Director of Pratt Fine Arts.
Currently working as a broker with Windermere Real Estate, GG is a leader in her field. She has served as President of Eastside Council of “Seattle King Co Board of Realtors, ” and is among the 1% of agents nationally with following advanced real estate degrees: Assoc Broker; CRS; GRI, ABR, ALHS
In Kirkland, GG is a community leader and has served on the board of Kirkland Performance Center for seven years, most recently as President of the board of Directors. GG is also a Kirkland Cultural Commissioner and has served on the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as a Vice President of Events. She has been an active member of the Kirkland Rotarians serving as President in 2001.

David Mangone David Mangone is a Creative Strategist and Executive Producer/Writer/Director. He and his partners at Wattsmedia develop, design, and produce integrated digital media, corporate videos, sales and marketing presentations, business meetings, network commercials, branded entertainment, websites, international road shows, convention displays and visitor centers. His work includes major projects for international Fortune 100 companies, ad agencies and PR firms, as well as small projects for non profits and community service organizations.
David graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California and began his career as Director of Media Communications at Carnation Company, which was ultimately acquired by Nestle. He then subsequently founded a production company based in Santa Monica, CA and led it for over 20 years before taking a sabbatical to earn an MBA at Pepperdine University. He and his wife Linda moved to the Pacific Northwest from Los Angeles in 2005 and settled on Kirkland as their new home. David is also on the marketing committee for PACE and the Board of Directors of the Ojai Playwrights Conference. Gary ReillySenior Vice President of Engineering LOUD Technologies Gary Reilly is the Senior Vice President of Engineering at Loud Technologies. LOUD produces a wide range of digital recording products, loudspeakers, commercial audio systems, audio and music software and instrument amplifiers. Prior to joining LOUD in August, 2006, he was Sr. Director of Product Development at Qualcomm, developing innovative digital wireless communications products and services. Earlier in his career he designed sound reinforcement systems and then toured with these systems, mixing sound. He holds a BS, Electrical Engineering from Oregon Institute of Technology. Gary and his wife Peggy Sue live in Kirkland, Washington and have 3 children.
Suzy Mygatt Wakefield, Ph.D Suzy, a retired high school and university educator, is a long-time resident Washington resident. She grew up in Bellevue when pastures existed where Interstate 405 now goes through!
She attended Mills College and the University of Washington, where she graduated with a degree in Spanish and a Master’s in Educational Psychology / School Counseling, and later earned a Ph.D from the University of Michigan. She has lived in Kirkland since 1979 when she moved here from Seattle with her husband to be closer to her counseling job at Lake Washington High School, where she worked for 25 years. Upon retiring, she received the Washington Association of Career and Technical Education “Outstanding Service Award” in 2001, as well as the Washington Counselor Association “Distinguished Service Award.”
Suzy has enjoyed several leadership roles, as President of the Washington School Counselor Association, during which time she helped to pass the Fair Start Bill, providing dedicated funds for elementary school counselors. Suzy worked part-time as a program coordinator for the Washington Pre-College Testing Program at the UW in the 1980s and taught in the Global Career Development Certificate Program at the UW in the 1990s. She has served for the past three years as President of the Washington Career Development Association. She has edited a book entitled Unfocused Kids--Helping Students to Focus on their Education and Career Plans--A Resource for Educators (CAPS Press, 2004) |
