Doktor Kaboom! (real name David Epley) teaches the physical sciences through his hugely entertaining live show, which mixes dynamic demonstrations with comedy and audience banter. KPC and Doktor Kaboom! are seeking a partner Elementary School (4th and 5th grade) for an extended In-School Residency.
The residency begins with a performance in the school auditorium for all 4th and 5th graders. David Epley then drops his character (and his accent) and visits individual classrooms to teach a Creativity Workshop. These workshops teach how to channel one’s creative energies and apply them to all facets of life. David also teaches how to nurture and respect the creativity of your peers—an important lesson for older students about to matriculate into the often-demanding social world of Junior High.

We will screen the shorts and lead a discussion of the filmic elements in each. Topics include narrative, character, theme, filmic conceit and more. This will give your students a deeper vocabulary in short film and literary appreciation of all forms of dramatic work.
The Manhattan Short Film Festival is one of the world’s premiere short film events. It is a global event that occurs in hundreds of theaters simultaneously around the world. Your students may have the opportunity to vote for their favorites and have their votes counted on equal footing with worldwide audiences.
