Description

Travel around the world and connect cultures with the ever-curious, Syd the Solstice Kid. Syd wants answers! Why are the days so short in December? Where does the sun go? Join Syd and explore a collection of solstice legends and celebrations from around the world!

This new show follows Syd and three of her friends as they explore winter solstice stories from Scandinavian, Inuit, Chinese and African cultures. They act out the ancient stories that these communities told to explain the disappearing sun, the shorter days, and the eventual celebration of the return of light.

Many of these tales have evolved into the holiday traditions that are familiar to so many of us – decorating, making wreaths, gift-giving and candle lighting. Audience members will learn where many of these traditions came from and how other communities commemorate the winter solstice every year. This musical intends to build awareness about the diverse cultures that are all around us.

All December 16th performances are ASL.
