Music of Seattle's Jazz Composers.
The Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra presents music from their favorite Seattle composers, including the WORLD PREMIERE of the four-movement suite, "Rockland Sketches" by Bob Hammer, plus original works by Jovino Santos Neto, Wayne Horvitz, Milt Kleeb, Jim Knapp, and members of the SRJO. Also featured: pieces by Seattle's own Quincy Jones, drawn from his classic 1959 big band recording, "The Birth of a Band" plus Duke Ellington's 1938 masterpiece "Jack the Bear" featuring Seattle Jazz hall-of-fame inductee, Phil Sparks on bass.
The Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and enrichment of the uniquely American art form of large ensemble jazz.
