EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for the successful planning, coordination and implementation of all Kirkland Performance Center fundraising campaigns in collaboration with KPC’s Staff and Board of Directors.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Individual Giving Campaigns
    • Plan and implement Individual Giving Campaigns including Major Gift requests.
    • Oversee Annual Board requests.
    • Work with Development Associate and additional temporary staff to plan and implement Annual Telefunding Campaign.
    • Oversee all elements of donor recognition.
  • Business and Foundation Support
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of an annual cycle of requests, including Foundations, Corporate Foundations, Corporate Sponsorship, and Small Business Sponsorship.
    • Identify new revenue sources and maximize the potential of current revenue sources.
    • Work with KPC Staff to report back to funders in a timely fashion.
  • Government Support
    • Research and prepare annual and special initiative grant requests.
    • Work with Development Associate on contracting, tracking, invoicing and reporting for verification of grant expenditures as required.
    • Represent KPC in meetings and public forums regarding government funding.
  • Special Events
    • Oversee planning, preparation and management of KPC’s Annual Gala Auction.
      • Work with Board and Auction Committee to procure auction items and develop event sponsorships and corporate table sponsors.
      • Supervise all aspects of event preparation and implementation including, but not limited to: site selection, invitations, procurement and auction item tracking, catalog, event script and agenda, auction display, organization of check-in and check-out and volunteer coordination.
    • Plan and manage annual OnStage season announcement and artist sponsorship event.
      • Work with Marketing Director to design event theme, On Stage video presentation and promotional materials.
      • Handle event invitations, set-up, catering, entertainment, agenda, script and other event tasks as required.
    • Coordinate and host Major Donor (Marquee Circle) Receptions and Artist Sponsor Receptions surrounding many of KPC’s Presented Artist performances throughout the season.
  • Special Campaigns
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of any Special Fundraising Campaigns in service of KPC’s strategic planning process.
  • Board Relations
    • Provide staff support to Board Development Committee for Board recruitment, Board Retreat planning, etc.
    • Provide fundraising training for Board Members and other volunteers
    • Assist the Board with recommending and researching new members
    • Help ensure that Board Members and other volunteers feel involved, valued, supported and appreciated
  • Staff and Volunteer Management
    • Provide supervision for Development Associate, other fundraising staff and volunteers.
    • Conduct annual review of Development Associate and other fundraising staff.
    • Provide for continuing education and training of Development staff.
  • Budgeting
    • Work with Executive Director to develop annual contributed income budget, providing input on revenue and expense goals

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum five years of fundraising experience in leadership roles
  • Knowledge of Puget Sound region corporate, foundation and private donor communities
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in the arts community
  • Excellent verbal, writing and presentational skills
  • Ability to work well with other staff in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work successfully with limited support staff
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and familiarity with donor database software systems

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Kirkland Performance Center has on-going opportunities for internships to aid in professional/career development in non-profit/theatre organizations.

General Guidelines for KPC Internships

  • Time commitment for an internship is minimum of 10 hours per week and maximum of 30 hours per week. Office hours are M - F 9am to 5pm.
  • Duration of an internship is 3 months to 9 months.
  • Interns will have a designated supervisor, and will be expected to communicate schedule, etc. to that supervisor.
  • Interns will be expected to create a paper trail / electronic records of their work, so that the work may be continued following their departure.
  • Should someone wish to discontinue an internship, a minimum of one week notice is expected.
  • All interns will be expected to assist with general daily administrative duties including answering office phones, assisting office visitors, etc.

Available Internships

Development Assistant

A Development Assistant will work with the Development Manager to successfully coordinate KPC’s major fundraising activities including a phone campaign, auction, season sponsorships and grant writing. The assistant will provide administrative support in these tasks; assist with data entry, follow-ups, mailings, research, and data collection.

Data Analyst

A Data Analyst will work with KPC’s Marketing Director to collect, analyze and report on data collected in our ticketing software and through surveys. This person will work extensively with Excel spreadsheets and Ticket Turtle, our ticketing software, to procure and disseminate the information.

Technology & Social Marketing

An intern in Technology & Social Marketing will work with the KPC Marketing Director to further develop our online presence and social marketing strategy.

Marketing Outreach/Events Coordination

An intern in Marketing Outreach/Events Coordination will work with the Marketing Director and other KPC staff to coordinate logistics and assist with preparation and execution of special events relating to promotion, audience development and fundraising. This person will also work on developing ideas and strategies for niche marketing and community outreach for individual performances.

Arts Education

An Arts Education intern will work with the Marketing Director and Education Coordinator to provide administrative support and assistance with our seasonal education programs including school matinees, artists outreach events, master classes and adult education opportunities. This person will also assist with the development of new programs in Arts Education and help to continue to develop and improve relationships with area schools and teachers.

PR/Journalism/Communication

An intern in PR/Journalism & Communication will work with the Marketing Director, PR Manager and Communications Manager to develop compelling written material for various KPC publications including marketing pieces and press releases. This person will also assist with media follow up and relationship development with area media outlets, and will have the opportunity to research new methods of communication, including podcasts and other forms of electronic media.
