Master Throat Singers from Tuva Chirgilchin Atmospheric and mesmeric, ‘throat singing’ is almost too difficult to describe in words. It must be heard to be believed – the music, produced by resonating low sounds in the throat, creates a middle note and a haunting, flute-like harmonic.
Science, Mathematics and Juggling Gizmo Guys Performing as the Gizmo Guys, Allan Jacobs and Barrett Felker have amazed and amused audiences around the world. They've made numerous television appearances, won international juggling competitions, and taught at top circus schools. What makes their act so appealing is their uniquely winning combination of dazzling technique and infectious humor. The Gizmo Guys' rapid-fire act exhilarates and inspires sidesplitting laughter in audience members of all ages. Their practical and user-friendly study guide, "Objects in Motion: Juggling, Math and Science," makes it easy for teachers to tie the show to lessons across the curriculum.
Afro-Carribean Folk Music Umalali: The Garifuna Women's Project Rooted in sacred ancestral spirit possession and pulsating African rhythms, the music of Umalali ("voice" in Garifuna) celebrates the cultural hybrid of Africans deposited in the New World, creating their own distinct culture from their combined indigenous and African roots. The Garifuna evolved as a distinct people from Africans shipwrecked off the coast of St Vincent's (1635) who survived and inter-married with the local Arawak and Caribe Indians. Women play a key role in nurturing and sustaining cultural traditions: the Garifuna women in Umalali have united to craft contemporary songs of indescribable soul, strength and beauty. Blending the rich vocal textures of rock, blues, funk, African, Latin and Caribbean influences, Umalali tells the story of women whose strength, hard work and perseverance provide the bedrock of their community. Multi-Cultural World Music and Dance Children of the Revolution They can loosely be compared to such breakaway and high-energy world music artists such as Ozomatli, Gipsy Kings, Santana, Manu Chau and the Afro Celt Sound System, but all similarities stop there. Made up of virtuoso musicians, singers and dancers from around the world, COTR blend their Flamenco, Greek, and Rock roots creating, a lush and melodic sound driven by infectious Latin and Middle-Eastern grooves. If you are interested in this performance please inquire below and we will notify you when dates and times become available.
