August 24, 2016 in

Born in the North of England, Linda Kitchen studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and at the National Opera Studio, London. Having served her apprenticeship at Glyndebourne Festival debuting as Amor in Sir Peter Hall’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea, she became a principal soprano at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. This launched her 25 year-long career as opera singer and actress in major European opera houses.

In 2004, Linda leapt off the stage into the role of director. Following her successful directing debut of Hamlet in St. Dogmael’s Abbey, subsequent productions include Die Entführung aus dem Serail in UK; Magic Flute & L’Heure Espagnole for Southern Opera New Zealand; Albert Herring, Messiah & Carmina Burana  at University of Auckland; Die Fledermaus, L’Enfant et les Sortilegès and Suor Angelica for Opera Factory, Auckland. You will see more of Linda Kitchen’s work in Seattle Opera’s Season Previews and in La Bohème, her directing début for Tacoma Opera, in October this year.
