Koleda Concert of the Bulgarian Community in Seattle

Inspired by the poetry of Pencho Slaveykov and the universal aspiration for peace, love, and understanding among people.

This year, on the stage of Kirkland Performance Center, we will welcome guests from near and far. The musicians from Episode Band – Borislav Kutrov (leader, guitar, vocals), Detelina Deneva (keyboard, bass, vocals), and Tore Tveit (drums) – are joining us all the way from Norway.

For the first time, our Koleda show will feature Serbian and Greek dance groups: the Vuk Karadžić ensemble from Vancouver (British Columbia) and Spartiates Dance Group from St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle, both known for their beautiful performances.

We’ll once again have the pleasure of hearing Petar Alexiev – Usmivkata (bagpipe) and Angel Dobrev (gadulka) from Chicago. They will join local musicians Vasil Denev (kaval) and Anton Kirilov (tupan) to recreate the rich sound of our beloved Interstate Orchestra.

In the spirit of cultural diversity, the Radost Folk Ensemble will present Croatian choreography with special guest Johnny Morovich.

Among the local participants, we’ll see and hear the Women’s Choir Bulgarian Voices of Seattle, the talented young singer Anika Alexander, Folklore Ensemble Hopa Trop (adults and children), Youth Magic (newly formed dance group), Children’s Folklore Group Medena Pitka, Seattle’s Koledari, Seattle Cheta Performance Group (adults and youth).

The Master of Ceremony will be Desislava Mihaylova and Viktor Tsvetanov

In “Dream of Happiness,” we sing, play, dance, and give thanks for priceless gifts. Cultures are many, but the dream is one — for peace, harmony, and humanity.

Special guests: Episode Band

Episode Band is a trio consisting of:
Borislav Kutrov – leader, guitar, vocals
Detelina Deneva – keyboard, bass, vocals
Tore Tveit – drums

The idea for the group Episode Band was born in the late 1980s with the goal of organizing concert tours in Germany, Switzerland, and Norway. After many years of successful work, the band ceased activity due to the retirement of its founder, Ivan Doikin.

After settling in Norway, Borislav Kutrov, a long-time member of the group, decided to revive it. Renewed and actively performing today, Episode Band caters to the needs and preferences of the Norwegian audience. Its repertoire is extremely diverse, including blues, pop, country, and rock music.

Episode Band delivers a modern sound to the golden pop hits of the 1980s and 1990s. With fresh arrangements, energy, and professionalism, the band brings new life into beloved classics. Each of their live performances is a musical journey that blends nostalgia with a contemporary vibe.
