Spain Flamenco Arts presents: La Velada: An Alchemy of Past and Present
Created and performed by Marta Gálvez, La Velada reflects on the legacy of flamenco and the artists who have carried the art form across generations. The work transforms inherited movement, rhythm, and memory into a contemporary language that is deeply rooted in flamenco tradition while speaking with a distinctly modern voice.
Selected by Spain Flamenco Arts for its 2026 U.S. tour, La Velada showcases a cast of acclaimed artists from Spain:

Artist Bio
Director, Choreographer & Flamenco Dancer
Born in Córdoba, Spain, Marta Gálvez began studying flamenco at the age of three. Her passion for dance led her to train at some of Spain’s most prestigious dance conservatories, where she developed her artistry and earned recognition through several distinguished awards.
Her talent, versatility, and commanding stage presence have led her to perform with acclaimed companies and artists, including David Coria, María Pagés, Úrsula López, José Porcel, and Juan Carlos Avecilla. Throughout her career, she has appeared on renowned stages and at major international flamenco festivals in Spain and abroad.
Most recently, Marta has been touring her own production, Dama de Noche, which has been presented at celebrated venues and festivals including the Jerez Festival, Festival Flamenco Albuquerque (UNM), Teatros del Canal (Madrid), and Centro Danza Matadero (Madrid).
Once again, Spain Flamenco Arts proudly brings the artistry of Marta Gálvez—and the very best of flamenco—to Washington State.
