The performance is put together by Seattle Cao Chen Beijing Opera School.  School president Cao Chen and his wife take the leading roles in one of the several plays.  The play is called ‘Lee Kwei Visits Mother’.  Other plays include ‘Shi Chian Steals A Chicken’, ‘Mt. Azelia’, and ‘Taking Mt. Wei Hu With Wit’.  The last two were created during the Cultural Revolution, 1966 – 1976.  The other two were created much earlier.  It is very rare that both the so-called traditional Beijing Opera and the modern Beijing Opera are presented at the same time, according to the school president. There will be three performers coming from China.  One is an actor Jun Li.  Another is an actress Ping Huang.  The third one is a conductor Hui Bin Bian.  All three hold the title of National First Class Performer. Beijing Opera is a combination of singing, acting, dancing and acrobatics.  Stage setting is very simple but costumes are very colorful, according to the school president.  He is very excited about the performance.  So are the helpers from the Puget Sound area and Vancouver, BC. The event is sponsored by the following organizations: Chinese Culture Heritage Foundation, Hua Xing Arts Group, Chinese Opera And Drama Society (Singapore), Seattle Young Philharmonic
